The new mobility cards, which will give local residents the right to free bus travel in Marbella, will be valid from 1 April, said town hall spokesperson, Félix Romero.
Romero announced on Monday that residents could start to apply for the passes from this week and they would be issued from 15 March. Romero explained that the cards could not be used before April as the new bylaw still has to get its final approval and the process of awarding the public transport contract has been delayed.
Marbella council decided its free-bus-travel policy last year partly in a bid to get more people to register on the 'padrón' municipal census and so increase funding from central government.
